I have a BS in chemistry and an MA in Education Technolgy (design and the construction site, publishing MS office, desk, digital photo editing, interactive software). I'm leaving the teaching field, where I 67k won per year. I return to the arena of analytic chemistry or I can see if I can get a job in information technology or possibly an entry level management position. I worked for the past 9 years as a chemistry / physics teacher in secondary education. Before, I had as an analytical chemist, chemistry using bank and gas and liquid chromatography of about four years. How should I pay too much to ask? I'm worried about being greedy and turn off my prospective employers, but do not want to sell my car and short. I just had an interview for the post of quality control, which has a salary range of 33k-80k and involves sensory and instrumental (liquid chromatography) analysis of food. I told the interviewer that he wanted at least 42k. Is this too low?
You should never give an exact amount in an interview. If they ask you what salary you want, say you'd like a comparable market wage to their abilities and skills. This should help you walk around this issue, and stay in the race for a spot. The problem of giving an amount that is not always that you may same premium, but can be severely under-price. You told them he wanted at least 42 K, although they may have been thinking-70 80K for someone with his experience. Why did you offer a salary greater than 42 K when you seem happy with that figure. But put yourself in a position where they can be sold short.

Web design I made earlier. This is what it would be useful: HTML CSS JavaScript is a plus. Dreamweaver Photoshop ActionScript Flash and Fireworks W3 Schools (http://www.w3schools.com) offers free tutorials on the major web languages. Adobe also has tutorials for software.
