When your business is gets bigger you can hire a web designer / web design firm to take the website to the next level. All you need to know and know well is the audience you target, so it's worth spending a whole day (at least) research and exchange of ideas before jumping into Dreamweaver or Frontpage.

Here are 10 things you need to know before you design your own website:

  1. Get to know more about traffic are planning to drive to your website. Discover what they will visit your site.

  5. Come with a demo version or a draft of your website. When you are using the trial version of software tools, the project is useful because that can be saved on your hard drive.
  6. In considering the draft website and see if it meets the objective / s and objective / s of your website as well as whether the design is adequate to meet the needs of your targeted traffic. Do some adjustment and refinement to improve the website.
  7. Finding a good hosting provider web. The supplier should be able to provide adequate space for your website. Depending on the purpose and traffic to your website, you can choose between free web hosting and paid subscription to save the files on your site.
  8. Please note that in a free hosting service, ads may be placed on your site to cover free accommodation.
  9. Understand the business objectives file.

Too often we see websites "under construction", "soon" or to announce events that were over long ago. When a site becomes obsolete tells visitors that the site owner is sloppy and unreliable, there is no reason to look deeper into the site or to return in the future.

Even a website has a voice ignored.

Sometimes companies rush to put a web site because your competition has a site or because believe is a magical way to increase sales automatically. They underestimate the time and expense needed to compete in what is becoming a fierce market.

Making a website is fast and forget that at least a waste of money, and at worst, a constant negative publicity. The irony is that while a good website must be marketed, a bad place is likely to pop up and make a company look bad at any time.

Commitment phobias not allowed

Maintaining a web site after the creation is as important as the initial development. Keeping information fresh and updated is a compromise considerable that it can not be ignored.

A website is only part of an image much larger marketing and all pieces should be considered during development. Thus, the focus of a Web site with the understanding that it is a work in progress.

If you have a limited budget, consider the following:

  • Do not put pages that say "under construction". And never put a temporary page that shows a date when the site will be completed. It is not necessarily bad for registering a domain and have a temporary page, however, is much better to put a single page that provides useful information to potential visitors, while you work on developing the entire site.
  • Limit time-sensitive content:
    1. Do not include a timetable or the intentional content variable, unless you're ready for the great effort and commitment required of staff and finances.
    2. Never promise of new information in a certain date.
    3. Whenever possible remove items dating back to the site.
  • However, you must be prepared to keep up with a couple of things:
    1. Addresses, phone numbers, lists of personnel and / or photographs must be current.
    2. The copyright notices in the pages of need to keep to date.
    3. Events in the company and events outside the community, nation or around the world can influence the suitability of the content of a site.
  • Whatever the budget, the deadlines must be met or not should be announced to all. Even with the best of intentions, deadlines be missed. Whenever possible, do not make claims about possible future services, products or content of the site that includes a deadline.

The easiest way of losing money on a website is in the budget and do not realize the ongoing requirements to keep the site updated. All the efforts of others, such as optimizing search engine can also be wasted. Visitors can find the site can be visited once. But the content if they are obsolete or irrelevant, the site following is just a click away.

If something is too old to use it is not usually much.
