Queen Anne style homes are often easy to recognize but hard to define. It is associated in part with the elusivity with distinctness, that the style so attractive for buyers and preservationists across the country makes. Queen Anne homes are often referred to as the ornate buildings of the Victorian era, and combine a variety of Aesthetics and construction methods from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

One of the reasons Queen Anne architecture looks so different from other styles is that it is usually only used on houses. While other music styles such as Gothic Revival and Federal were adapted for commercial buildings, churches and public Facilities, Queen Anne architecture was specifically designed for upscale homes and villas, using the latest materials and methods of the machine age. In contrast, stylish and contemporary decor, the historic domination Queen Anne of England, came in a style known to be classified as "William and Mary."
